Getting Your Wedding Prep List Ready

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

You’ve met the right man, and you have the perfect ring on your finger.
This is the time to plan the perfect wedding. Wedding planning may be stressful and upsetting at times because you to make things perfect for you and your husband to be. All it requires is a little communication and patience while you make what seems like a never-ending list of choices and decisions.
Just like with any big happening, it gets a good deal more manageable if you break your wedding planning down into smaller items to focus on.
First item on your wedding prep list is to decide on the kind of reception you may like to have. Will this be a large wedding, or a more intimate gathering of friends and family? Talk with your relatives and soon to be in-laws to get an idea of what their needs are, considering that their concept of “small” may be very different than yours. After you have a general idea of how many guests you will have, you can then visit reception centers and talk with their representatives about what they offer.
Remember that the places you choose to visit have usually hosted many weddings before yours, and they can be a valuable resource for suggestions that you may not have thought about. It is normal to not have all the answers immediately, and many reception sites will gladly let you take their information so you can spend time looking at what they offer. If you have questions, be sure to ask them, as this is a good way to see how flexible the site and staff will be to meet your individual needs. Of course, you will need to determine your wedding budget, as the reception will be where you spend most of your wedding budget.
The next item on your wedding prep list is to choose the food and the wedding cake. It’s a great idea to sample the food at each reception site, preferably the same food you might choose for your wedding. The time of day that you choose to get married will also impact your food choice. If you choose a mid-morning wedding, you might prefer to have a brunch buffet, while an evening wedding calls for more a more formal presentation.
Whatever you choose, do not hesitate to ask for references from the company that will be providing the food at your reception. These references will take you beyond the food preparation and help you evaluate service and accuracy.
Next on the wedding prep list is flowers, invitations, music and photography. These are individual choices you make based on the style you seek for your wedding. These are also areas where you can trim some of your wedding budget if you need to. Considering a simplified invitation and less formally arranged flowers can save you hundreds of dollars.
Keep in mind that the “model wedding” does not necessarily need to be the most costly one. Use your creativity and you will find that your wedding is just as perfect as the man you have chosen to marry.

How To “Listen To Your Body” To Create Health and Wellness

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

A seven-hour seminar on CDs recently came to my attention. It’s entitled “When Food Is Food and Love Is Love” by Geneen Roth. To participate in the program offered, it is necessary to “listen to your body” to find out when it wants food, what it wants and when it’s had enough.
Piece of cake, right? (Pun intended.) For some of us, it simply isn’t as easy as it sounds. How often do we do that? Or for that matter, how is it even done? I was sincerely surprised and not a little put off when I realized that I eat when it’s time to eat and I usually munch on what my emotions or my mind want. I was brought up that way, and it looks to me like those around me are doing the same thing.
Giving it a sincere try left me not eating for 24 hours because I didn’t have a clue how it felt to be hungry! That didn’t seem to hurt me and eventually I got a feeling of “butterflies” in my stomach for want of a better description. All was not peaceful in my innards. My mouth started watering long before that but that didn’t seem to be enough of an indication for me to act on.
Asking your body what it wants is just as tricky. I got answers loud and clear from my emotions and mind, but my body seldom wanted sugary foods and sought a better balance, when asked.
Finding out what was “enough” was the least difficult. Once the sensation of “butterflies” were accessed. “Enough” is when they go away, for me. How strange to approach eating so wisely.
A side benefit was that things started to taste and smell quite wonderful. I started to sit down and pay attention to my food and eat more slowly. It’s been a revelation to find that I was more focused on shoveling it in than I was on what it was I was eating.
As the weeks have progressed, I’ve started to become curious about the rest of my life. Like…why can’t this same approach be taken with the decisions I make about my work and play activities and my choices about friends?
The art of listening to your body resonate with a negative or affirmative response can be slow to come by. At least it has been for me. I’ve had to get past tons of “shoulds” and “should nots”, first…unconscious programming that I wasn’t aware of. However, with practice I’m starting to get the hang of it and it’s starting to offer me a deeper freedom. Why not give it a try? Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

NHS To Take A Bite Out Of The Compensation Cherry

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Oliver Letwin, the Dorset West MP, in a speech to the Centre for Policy Studies quoted figures of over £400million having already been paid out in 2003 by the NHS in compensation for clinical negligence claims with a further £5billion more in cases waiting to be settled. This is a huge demand on the already thinning resources our National Health Service relies upon.
Recently it has been suggested that legal aid be removed as an option for those seeking compensation for clinical negligence to be replaced by solicitor’s no win, no fee arrangements. This will place the burden of paying for fraudulent and “time-wasting” claims on the shoulders of the solicitors themselves who up till now have been receiving nearly 40% of the total compensation costs the NHS is struggling to find.
More dramatic, though, is the recent draft produced by Health Minister Rosie Winterton for a new, expanded NHS Injury Costs Recovery (ICR) scheme. Meaning the NHS can recover the costs of treating a patient who has made a successful compensation claims.
For years hospitals have been able to recover the costs of treating people injured in road traffic accidents where the injured party has successfully claimed compensation for their injuries. Within the past five years the NHS has recovered on average around £105million per year from third party insurance companies. The move to expand the current Injury Costs Recovery scheme is estimated to recover an additional £150million per year to cover the treatment of those who were injured due to someone’s negligence in any type of personal injury claim.
The Health Minister stated: “This policy will encourage employers to take steps to prevent employees being injured and when implemented should increase the total recouped each year to around £250million for the NHS – equivalent to 53,000 hip operations and 11,000 newly qualified nurses … It is unacceptable that taxpayers have to pay for the medical treatment of someone injured at work simply because employers fail to take adequate steps to protect their workforce. Individual hospitals will now be able to recover the costs and decide where they want to reinvest that money to improve services they want.”
In response to this a spokesperson for the Institute of Directors said: “Businesses pay tax which pays for the NHS, so why should it pay again for treatment? In road accidents it is normally someone’s fault but it is not so clear cut with personal injury. It could mean that businesses are left fighting costly and lengthy battles against claims. That may just be too much for some, especially small businesses.”
But despite these concerns TUC General Secretary, Brendan Barber stated: “We welcome this consultation. It is important that negligent employers pay the full cost of their actions rather than expecting the taxpayers to subsidise their failures to protect workers. However it important that this is not just seen as another cost to be added to insurance premiums and instead is used by the insurance industry as an incentive to improve the measures that employers take to prevent injuries at work.”
The stiff regulations self-imposed on motor insurance policies by insurance firms has always been lacking in other areas. Whereas a motor insurance customer will have to declare age, current employment, years holding a license, any previous accidents, yearly mileage, motoring convictions, registration number, type of license, other users of the car, any other cars owned plus a multitude of other questions – public liability insurances consist of much less confirmation. Hopefully this move will be more of a wake-up call for insurance companies than another reason for them to push up premiums. Sadly the The Association of British Insurers are not convinced that insurance firms will respond in the way hoped for by the Health Minister, predicting the scheme would force insurance premiums up by 8%.
The Law Commission felt the move would encourage employers, public authorities and others with responsibility for the health and safety of others to take those responsibilities more seriously and improve their health and safety practices. More than 75% of those who responded to the Law Commission’s consultation on expanding the Road Traffic Accident scheme to cover all cases of personal injury in 1996 agreed with the Commission that the NHS should be able to recover its costs from the insurance of the individual(s) responsible for the injuries it had to treat.

Easily Redecorate Your Bathroom on a Tight Budget

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Bathroom decorating on a budget can achieve professional results if the person doing the decorating is willing to put the effort into it. It’s a tradeoff, what budget decorating saves in materials can be put into the time it takes to do the job correctly for that professional finish. At the end of the day it’s worth a little more time and effort to create your perfect bathroom.
Decorating a bathroom on a budget often means improving what is already there. The easiest way to start making changes is by using stain. Staining old cupboards can make them look current and spruce them up. Staining can also be used on furniture and other wooden items. Matching all the staining in a room can make a small bathroom seem larger, especially if using a light stain. Be aware that darker colors and stains can make the room look smaller.
Using tiles for decorating a bathroom on a budget is a smart idea. Tiles can be purchased for very little money, especially if they are bought in bulk. By taking your time to install the tiles you should be able to get a very professional look at a fraction of the price. Purchasing a book specifically geared towards installing tile yourself will help ensure a high-quality final product and many DIY stores have advice sheets for laying tiles.
The technique you choose for laying the tile is also important. Mosaic designs that are done perfectly look designer in quality, but they can be quite labor intensive. With a more traditional layout, it is important to set tile evenly in straight lines and with equal amounts of calking or grout. Be sure to take your time and give it your best effort. You will be richly rewarded with a good looking and long lasting finish.
To make the room look even more professionally finished use textured tiles, painted tiles, or large tiles to lend a more polished effect. Use these unique and more expensive tiles as a border or accent. Textured, painted, or large sized tiles may be found at whole sale or discount stores, or you can get a great deal on discontinued styles.
Paint is relatively inexpensive and can be used to entirely redecorate a bathroom. Most paint costs around $15 a gallon, and you will only need two to three gallons of paint for most bathrooms. Make sure you buy a high quality paint. Although you may be tempted to buy budget paint this is a false economy as the finish may take more coats, not look as good and not be as long lasting.
You can get expert painting results in less time that you think. For example, use textured rollers to create a pattern in the paint, layering colors to create designer effects. Or create designs such as lattice work, or a two toned look with a border. Using any amount of colors when implementing these designs can create depth which also looks more expensive than it actually is. In this way you can spruce up a bathroom but it won’t cost a lot of money.
Decorating a bathroom on a budget can be easy and give very high-end results. Taking the time to learn about a method and following through with time and effort will make the bathroom look like it was decorated by a professional designer. But it will cost little enough to suit almost every budget.

Daughter Commits Abuse Mother Goes To Jail

July 21st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Josephine was a teenage mother. She had a 1 year old son named Scott. Josephine lived with her mother Marian. Due to her pregnacy, she was not been able to complete high school. Her mother worries that the responsibilities of childhood maybe too much for her. She is really concerned about Scotts safety.
Marian knows that her daughter is not the most responsible person in the world, so she helps out as much as possible. She also knows that a teenagers tolerance level is low. With a child to look after, it drops even lower. Sometimes Josephine would blame Scott for all her problems. Other times she acted as if she could not live without him.
She was very unstable, so her mother kept a close eye on her. Marian knew she could not be there all the time. She feared that Josephine might do something crazy if she became too stressed. Lately, Scott has begun crying a lot. He has also been withdrawing when Josephine comes near him. Her mother wondered what was going on. Scott has never been exactly overjoyed to see Josephine, but now he tries to completely get away from her.
Marian thought, maybe Scott is sick, so they took him to the hospital. The doctor examined Scott all over. He asked Marian to remain at the office while he took a walk down the hall to get some lab results. When the doctor returned, the police and a lady in a suit accompanied him. Marian was surprised.
She wondered what it was all about. The police told her that she was under arrest for child endangerment. The lady in the suit scooped Scott up and started toward the door. As Marian was being handcuffed and having her rights read to her by the police, she asked where they were taking Scott. The lady in the suit said that he would be placed in foster care until the situation could be resolved. Marian said, but I am not the childs mother.
The police said they would hear her arguments and explain in detail when they got to the station. Marian knew Josephine was the cause of all this. Whatever the doctors found resulted from her treatment of the child. When they got to the station. A detective went over the evidence that the doctor found. Scott had several bruises on his back, which indicated he had been beaten. Marian explained that she was not the childs mother.
She explained, that the childs mother was a teenager. The detective listen and afterwards he told Marian that he was convinced that she was not the guilty party. He also explained that someone had to be responsible. He sent the police to pickup Josephine. After questioning, Josephine admitted the she had caused the bruises on Scott when she was under stress. She was in tears.
Her mother hated to see her that way, but she knew that Scotts safety was the number one concern. She was given a hearing. She was sentenced to 1 year probation and nine months service at a child abuse clinic. She experienced first hand the trauma an abusers actions cause in a childs life.
Marian was awarded legal custody of Scott. Josephine was allowed only supervised contact with Scott, until the court is convinced that she had matured enough to take full responsibility.
It is in your best interest to keep a close eye on children in the custody of relatives with questionable judgment. Use all methods at your disposal to keep a child safe.

Antique furniture – The Victorian period

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Ok, if i say you antique furniture you understand that i am NOT going to talk about the very early furniture used for humans thousands of years ago. I am going to talk about the antique furniture used in the civilization.
One of the best and finest styles to talk about inside the antique furniture field is the Victorian. The Victorian antique furniture style can be divided in three periods: Early Victorian, Mid Victorian and Late Victorian. The Early Victorian, is about the furniture made between 1830 and 1850, was a mix of very styles: Charles X, neoclassical and a variation of Regency. Also was going a revival of Gothic and Rococo styles by some manufacturers with their rising usage of machines.
The Mid Victorian was essentially the “founded” by the Great Exhibiton at Crystal Palce, which joined manufacturers and designers from all Europe in the year of 1851. This exhibition generated an explotion on new styles and mixes of them. Also started the Napolen 3 style, a semi-revival of medieval ideas by people as Burgess, talbert and one of the most important: Morris.
The Late Victorian was about reproductions of european historic types, but also we have the Arts and Crafts movement by people as Ashbee, Mackintosh or Voysey introducing something closer to art nouveau, always considered the early of this period.

How To Use VBScript

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

If you are creating a web site for the first time, then you probably have some knowledge of the HTML programming language. HTML is a fairly simple language to learn, and most beginning web designers are usually self-taught when it comes to using HTML to create a simple web page. HTML provides the style, structure, and formatting for a web site.
However, HTML does not actually do anything. It is a static programming language. It does not process anything or make your site interactive, it just sits there and tells the browser how the site should look. So, other programming languages have been created to improve site design and make sites more interactive for the user.
One such language that has become extremely important and widely used is VBScript. VBScript is a scripting language. Scripting languages are used to connect diverse pre-existing parts to accomplish a new related task without compiling. Also, scripting languages are interpreted, and are executed faster than a compiling language.
VBScript is very versatile and can communicate with other languages effectively. VBScript is a variation of Visual Basic, an event driven programming language invented by Alan Cooper, and later bought and expanded by Microsoft.
VBScript is like Javascript in that they are both scripting languages, but at the same time these two languages are indeed different from one another, and most of the syntax is not similar. To use VBScript, you need to put any and all VBScript code in between script tags, with the attribute for the opening script tag being the VBScript text type. This tells the web browser that that code contained within the script tag is VBScript and not ordinary HTML.
You can place VBScript programming code in either the head section or the body section of your webpage. VBScript functions are to be placed in the head section so that the functions are loaded before called upon in the body section of the page. VBScript code that is involved in displaying certain elements of the web page immediately upon the loading of the page would go in the body section of the page.
As with Javascript, you can define values for certain variables that you plan to use in your VBScript procedures and functions. These would be placed in the head section of the web page.
You can also define variables as an array using VBScript. An array would be a variable that has more than one value. When defining each value of a single variable with an array, the name of the variable stays the same, but each value is defined with an index number that is placed in parentheses. Here would be an example of an array for a variable called Random having 3 different values:
Random(1) = 12
Random(2) = 72
Random(3) = 45
VBScript has two different types of basic procedures. There are sub procedures and function procedures. Sub procedures can process data and perform an action, but they do not return a value. Function procedures process data and do return a value. There are four different types of conditional statements that VBScript uses. These include if/then, if/else, if/elseif, and select case statements.
There are 3 basic looping statements that are utilized by VBScript, including for/next, for each/next, and do/loop. All of these statements are easy to learn and create. Conditional and looping statements are the logic, or the brain behind VBScript.
So, if you are new to web design and have become proficient in developing artistically sound, static web pages, you should now move on to creating more complex, interactive web sites with VBScript. You need to create sites that not only display information but react to input received by the user.
You can begin to learn VBScript fairly easily through online tutorials, but it might be a good idea to enroll in some courses at a local college or computer programming institute, or perhaps buy a VBScript textbook from a local bookstore. However you learn it, using VBScript effectively is essential for every web designer.

Can You Profit From Affiliate Marketing Without A Website?

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Time and time again, internet marketers have claimed that to do business in the World Wide Web, you’d need your own website. Your own website, they say, is your headquarters in cyberspace. It’s your very own digital store where you could lead potential customers and where you offer the products you have for sale.
Though it’s true that having your own website can greatly aid you in your quest to achieve success in the online field, a website is not the end all and be all of internet salesmanship, particularly in the line of affiliate marketing. Yes, you could make a living online as an affiliate even if you do not have the benefit of your own website!
How is this possible? How can this be done? Read on, dear friend, as we discuss alternative strategies that will allows you to make the most out of your affiliate marketing campaigns without having your own webpage on the net.
Affiliate marketing is a program whereby the affiliate can earn some generous commissions for every successful sale they manage to refer to the affiliate merchant. The affiliate’s task is merely to pre-sell the affiliate merchant’s goods. The sales page, the payment processing, the digital delivery, and post sales services shall be the responsibilities of the affiliate merchant.
The affiliate only has to refer people to the affiliate merchant’s sales page. This can be done by making people click on the affiliate links exclusively provided for the affiliate. Now, these affiliate links are very important. They are like the markers for the affiliate program. They will tell the system that a visitor was actually referred by the appropriate affiliate.
Marketing the affiliate merchant’s goods without the benefit of a website entails marketing the affiliate links in a variety of channels that would serve the affiliate in lieu of a website of his own. This can be done through the following techniques:
Article marketing. We all know how powerful affiliate marketing can be in link building campaigns. But instead of providing for links to your own website, you could provide your affiliate links instead. Article directories allow you a resource box per submission, where you could tell your readers about yourself as well as leave a link of your choice. Now, you have to remember that some article directories do not allow affiliate links in the bodies of the articles themselves, but affiliate links are perfectly allowed in the resource box.
Forum marketing. Online communities, or forums, are likewise great channels where you could promote your affiliate links. Membership in PHP2.0 based forums gives you a signature box where you could advertise your links. Use this to advertise your affiliate links. For every post you will make, your signature box would appear. Post a thousand messages, and you’ll have a thousand pages advertising your affiliate links! Want to know the forums which are relevant to the subject serviced by the affiliate products you’re promoting?
Advertise in ezines. This may cost you some cash, as many ezines charge for advertising space. Nonetheless, you could expose your affiliate links to highly targeted prospects using this approach. Imagine if the ezine has a list of 10,000 people. You’d immediately be able to reach 10,000 quality leads with one advertisement. Again, you don’t need a website. Simply use your affiliate link in your ads.
The absence of your own website is never a bar to online success. Most of the strategies we have discussed here can be accomplished without spending a single cent. If you do not have the financial resources to register a domain or to subscribe to a web hosting service, you could still achieve success with affiliate marketing. Joining an affiliate program is free. Promoting your affiliate links can likewise be availed of without any charges.

Top 3 Football Betting Mistakes I’ve Made In My Life

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Have you ever wondered how the football betting “smart money” became the smart money? Do you wonder what the football betting smart money does differently than the amateurs? The biggest difference between professional gamblers and the amateurs is that the pros keep track of what they do, and learn from their mistakes. So with that in mind, here are the top 3 biggest mistakes I’ve made when betting on sports:
1. Trying To Make Up For Losses With The Next Game
This is the biggest mistake I ever made when I was younger. What would happen is that I’d get used to winning a few weeks in a row, then run across some bad luck on Saturday and Sunday. I’d be down some money going into the Monday Night Football game, and instead of being rational about the game, I’d bet 5 times as much as I should have in an effort to try to make back my losses from the weekend. This is the surest way to go broke!
2. Making Decisions Based on Emotions Instead of Logic
This mistake is closely related to mistake number one. I used to bet on games to feel good. For example, growing up I was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I’d bet AGAINST the Steelers just so I’d feel good no matter how the game turned out. If the Steelers won, I’d lose money, but I’d be happy because I’m a Steelers fan. If the Steelers lost, I’d be happy because I’d make money.
3. Betting On My Favorite Teams
This mistake is the flip-side of mistake number two. When being involved in football betting, you must separate your feelings from your desire to make money. I used to bet on the Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates because I got tired of losing money betting against them! What happened was when my favorite teams won, and I lost money by betting against them, it would take away from enjoying the victory of my home team. So instead, I would then bet ON my favorite team, and feel twice as good when they won, and twice as bad when they lost!
What can you learn from this? Simple. You must treat football betting like a job or a business and be professional about it. You can’t treat it like a form of entertainment or like an emotional fix and expect to make money with football betting.
If you do find yourself betting on emotion, then you really should subscribe to a professional handicapping service that will help you to keep focused on making money instead of making yourself feel good with your bets.

Choosing The Right Mp3 Player

July 20th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Back in the day, the idea of a having an audio device which was capable of storing hundreds if not thousands of audio tracks, as well as being compact enough to fit in just about anywhere was a distant dream. We think back not too long ago when the only option we had for listening to music was the use of those bulky 2 speaker audio cassette tape systems. But since then we have seen a decrease in the size of the those big audio devices.
Over the years as electronics evolved with the introduction of the mp3 audio format, the need for old cassette tape systems has diminished greatly. People are now able to satisfy their needs through the use of an mp3 player portable audio device .Since first entering the market, mp3 players have notably become one of the most popular consumer electronics devices in the world. Due to their huge popularity it is very common nowadays to see people utilising theses devices while doing many activities such as running, going to work, traveling, buying groceries as well as other tasks.
So lets take a look below at some useful factors to consider for those of you thinking about purchasing an mp3 player.I will outline the many important aspects to consider when comparing mp3 players
1. The internal memory size of an mp3 player is obviously an important factor. This will determine the amount of mp3 songs the mp3 audio device will be able to store. Mp3 players come in sizes ranging from 256MB to 10GB. The bigger the storage the better. Also some models may the have the option of flash memory.
2. The battery life is also a very important feature, because it determines the amount of time the mp3 player will function properly. Always make sure that the mp3 player comes with an AC/DV adapter which will allow you to recharge it quickly. Most mp3 players today come standard with these adapters.
3.The size of the mp3 player is the next factor. There a lots of sizes of mp3 players. Some have larger screens than others, the inclusion of video playback capability, hard drive and others.Once again the bigger and better they are, the higher the price will be. It’s worth paying a bit for a quality mp3 player, even if it burns a small hole in your pocket.
4.The next factor is USB connection speed to the PC, which affects the rate at which you can upload mp3′s from your PC to the mp3 portable device. The latest models today commonly support high speed USB 2.0 transfer. Others also support Firewire.
5.You should also be aware that Some mp3 players have the capability of supporting other audio format besides mp3, such as WMA and OGG. Be sure to check the specification manual to see if these features are included.Even with the sole purpose of Playing music, mp3 players may have other features such as an FM tuner ,audio recording capability, small notebook functions etc. It might be worth your while to again check the mp3 player Specs.
So at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you Purchase the mp3 player that suits your needs. If you only need it for listening to music, don’t go and buy a more expensive one which has unwanted capabilities as the prices can stretch very high.
